Track Santa as He Heads Out on Tour!

Here comes Santa Claus, Here comes Santa Claus, Right down Santa Claus Lane!

Once again March Lions Club with the help of the Rotary Club of March are working together to take Santa on a tour of the streets of March.

All the money raised this year will support Magpas Air Ambulance. Every use of the Magpas helicopter to an emergency incident costs between £3,000 and £4,000. Magpas receives no Government funding, so rely entirely on Fundraising and Donations to allow them to continue to operate. Nobody knows if or when they, or someone they know, might need that rapid airborne response, but when they do it is often the difference between life and death. Alternatively, or indeed as well, we will be collecting unopened tins or packets of food with long best before dates for donation to March Foodbank. If you could please have these donations ready in a bag for volunteers to collect, it would be appreciated.

The dates we are going to be out and about March are:

• Thursday 3^rd – Elliot Road, Yarrow Close, Truman Avenue, Hazelnut Close and Pond View
• Monday 7^th – Cavalry Park, Worsley Chase, Fleetwood Close, Fairfax Way, Suffolk Way, Bretton Avenue, Hunters Chase, Cavalry Drive (finishing near the mini-roundabout)
• Wednesday 9^th – Berryfield and Daglass Way
• Thursday 10^th – Burrowmoor Road, Birchwood Avenue, Brewin Avenue, Cherrywood Avenue, Cherryholt Avenue, Ellingham Avenue, finishing at City Road Lorry Park
• Monday 14^th – Creek Road (from Shaftsbury Avenue), Foxglove Way, The Parks, Riverdown, Creek Road (to Shaftsbury Avenue)
• Tuesday 15^th – Gaul Road, Turnbull Road, Hornbeam Close, Hebe Road, Acacia Avenue, Bluebell Way, Riverbank Close, Oxbow Crescent, finishing at City Road Lorry Park
• Thursday 17^th – Russell Avenue, Peyton Avenue, Gresley Way, Southwell Close, Norwood Road, Maple Grove (to Laburnum Grove)
• Monday 21^st – Elwyn Road (from Orchard Road), Eastwood Avenue, Green Street, Asplin Avenue, Papworth Avenue, Mallard Way, Badgeney Road (finishing outside the CoOp)

We will also be stopping by Broad Street, near to the War Memorial, on December 24th between 9:30am and 12pm!

Each night we aim to be starting at about 6 pm and to finish no later than 7:30 pm.

If you miss us on our travels, March Lions will also be collecting with the sleigh for our Charitable Fund at Sainsbury’s on Saturday 13th December and Tesco on Saturday 20th December between 9am and 3pm. We will also be collecting this year at Tesco on Tuesday 22^nd of December between 9am and 12pm.

What is Santa on Tour?

Each December, March Lions (with the help of our friends at March Rotary Club) takes Santa and his sleigh on a tour of March, whilst also collecting for local charities nominated by each club. In recent years we have raised over £10,000 for charities including:

March Lions also helps Santa visit the local supermarkets in December to collect for the club’s charitable funds. These funds are donated to charities locally, nationally, and internationally throughout the year.
