Here comes Santa Claus, Here comes Santa Claus, Right down Santa Claus Lane! Once again March Lions Club with the help of the Rotary Club of March are working together to take Santa on a tour of the streets of March. All the money raised this year will support Magpas Air Ambulance. Every use of the Magpas helicopter to an emergency incident costs between £3,000 and £4,000. Magpas receives no Government funding, so rely entirely on Fundraising and Donations to allow them to continue to operate. Nobody knows if or when they, or someone they know, might need that rapid airborne response, but when they do it is often the difference between life and death. Alternatively, or indeed as well, we will be collecting unopened tins or packets of food with long best before dates for donation to March Foodbank. If you could please have these donations ready in a bag for volunteers to collect, it would be appreciated. The dates we are going to be out and about March are: • Thursday 3rd – Elliot Road, Yarrow Close, Truman Avenue, Hazelnut Close and Pond View • Monday 7th – Cavalry Park, Worsley Chase, Fleetwood Close, Fairfax Way, Suffolk Way, Bretton Avenue, Hunters Chase, Cavalry Drive (finishing near the mini-roundabout) • Wednesday 9th – Berryfield and Daglass Way • Thursday 10th – Burrowmoor Road, Birchwood Avenue, Brewin Avenue, Cherrywood Avenue, Cherryholt Avenue, Ellingham Avenue, finishing at City Road Lorry Park • Monday 14th – Creek Road (from Shaftsbury Avenue), Foxglove

A few weeks back we had a Pig Racing night to raise funds for the Lions Clubs International Foundation’s Winter is Coming to Ukraine appeal. After a delicious Sausage and Mash supper we had some very exciting racing and raised over £425. This will go towards funding Generators for healthcare, education, public service and utility facilities in Ukraine, ensuring reliable backup power options for when their electricity grid is impacted by the ongoing conflict. The project has already supported the Chernihiv region, with the aim to extend this to the Kharkiv and Kyiv regions before the cold winter hits.
