Santa on Tour

Track Santa as He Heads Out on Tour!

He’s makin’ a list, checkin’ it twice, Gonna find out who’s naughty and nice, Santa Claus is Coming to Town!

Once again March Lions Club with the help of the Rotary Club of March are working together to take Santa on a tour of the streets of March.

All the money raised this year will support Break who work across East Anglia. The charity firmly believes that every child, no matter their start in life, deserves a bright future. Starting by building and earning trust, and then providing opportunities for young people to engage with, Break’s aim is to walk with those they support every step of the way to independence. And the support doesn’t stop there, a lifelong offer means the charity is there whenever and wherever they’re needed. Alternatively, or indeed as well, we will be collecting unopened tins or packets of food with long best before dates for donation to March Foodbank. If you could please have these donations ready in a bag for volunteers to collect, it would be appreciated.

The dates we are going to be out and about March are:

  • Wednesday 4th Dec – Burrowmoor Road starting near the Police Station, Birchwood Avenue, Brewin Avenue, Cherrywood Avenue, Cherryholt Avenue, Ellingham Avenue, Gaul Road, Turnbull Road, Bluebell Way, Riverbank Close, Gaul Road, and Oxbow Crescent.

This year you can again track Santa’s live location and donate online! Please see the March Lions Events Facebook Group, or visit march-lions.org.uk/santa, for more information about this! We will also post maps of the routes and any updates on our Facebook Group. Due to issues beyond our control, we are again unable to use the March Lions Club Facebook Page, so will be posting all Santa on Tour information to this group in its place while we work to resolve this.

Each night we aim to be starting at about 6 pm and to finish no later than 7:30 pm.

If you miss us on our travels, March Lions will also be collecting with the sleigh at Sainsbury’s on Saturday 14th December and Tesco on Saturday 21st December between 9am and 3pm. WE HAVE ALSO ADDED AN EXTRA DATE! Santa will also be in Broad Street, near to the War Memorial, on Christmas Eve from 9am to Midday – leaving just in time to set off an start delivering presents!

So why not come out and give Santa a wave.

We hope we will see you somewhere on our routes.

What is Santa on Tour?

Each December, March Lions (with the help of our friends at March Rotary Club) takes Santa and his sleigh on a tour of March, whilst also collecting for local charities nominated by each club. In recent years we have raised over £6,000 for charities including:

  • CAMSAR (Cambridgeshire Search and Rescue)
  • Parkinson’s UK
  • Young People March
  • 20Twenty Productions
  • Christians Against Poverty
  • MIND
  • Papworth Hospital
  • The Fen Tigers
  • The Fenland Music Centre Association
  • The East Anglian Air Ambulance
  • No Gain No Pain UK

March Lions also helps Santa visit the local supermarkets on the Saturdays in December to collect for the club’s charitable funds. These funds are donated to charities locally, nationally, and internationally throughout the year.
