We will also post maps of the routes and any updates on our Facebook and Instagram pages.

Each night we aim to be starting at about 6 pm and to finish no later than 7:30 pm.

July 2022

July has been another busy month for March Lions Club. The Annual Lions Peace Poster Competition again went ahead this year, with the theme ‘Lead with Compassion’. Entries were received from all of March’s Primary Schools, and after careful deliberation, top three posters from each school were presented with a prize. The quality of entries this year was exceptionally high, and we thank the schools for their support in running this competition.

This worldwide competition has been running since 1988, set up by Lions Clubs International, winners are entered into larger heats, with the overall international winner receiving an award, and $5,000.

During the month, Outgoing Lions Club President, Lion Alexander Groome, handed over his chain of office to the club’s new President, Lion Ruth Martin. Ruth previously served as president of the club between 2014 and 2016. We wish Lion Ruth the best for the year ahead.

Coming up on Saturday October 8th, we will see the return of the March Lions Autumn Fete at St Peter’s Church, March. There will be stalls from a number of local charities and businesses around the Church, and Bacon Butties provided by March Lions. All of the money raised by the Lions at this event will help us to continue to support local charities.

If you are interested in having a stall at this event, please contact Rev Jenny Webb.

June 2022

Wild Tribe

Back in March 2022, a member of March Lions Club won a full set of Wild Tribe books at the District 105CE annual convention, to be donated to a local school.

On the 7th May, Lions Derek and Sue Rutter visited Thomas Eaton Primary Academy to donate these books. The Wild Tribe series of books explain the effects of pollution and climate change on the natural environment. The school gratefully received the books and have now added these books to their library.

Gala Thanks

After 2 years away, March Gala, organised by March Lions, returned on Saturday 4th June in West End Park. The perfect weather brought out local residents in their droves and all our stallholders enjoyed a successful day.

March Lions raised just over £750, which will allow the club to continue to support local charities. Thank you to all the local charities and businesses that brought stalls, and those that came and supported all the stalls!

Our thanks are also extended to the March Summer Festival Committee, and their work on to organise the other events on park over the weekend.

Santa Sleigh Thanks

Once again March Lions Club with the help of the Rotary Club of March took Santa on a tour of the streets of March throughout December.

Thanks to the generous donations of the people of March, we raised a total of £900, which will be shared among four organisations: Orminston Families, East Anglian Air Ambulance, Fenland Music Centre and FACT Fenland Grub Growers. We also collected a total of 185kg of food for March Foodbank.

Alongside this, March Lions also spent Saturday December 18th outside Tesco with the sleigh, where we raised a further £750 for club funds. This will be used throughout the coming year to support local organisations.

On behalf of all involved in the sleigh, we would like to give a big thank you to everyone that continues to support us.
